Mike’s experience has included:
- Successfully defended a large Maine employer in appeal to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, resulting in a precedent-setting decision involving the maximum benefits provision of the Maine Workers’ Compensation Act. http://www.courts.maine.gov/opinions_orders/supreme/lawcourt/2016/16me45fr.pdf
- Successfully defended a large Maine employer in appeal to the Appellate Division of the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board. The Appellate Division affirmed the decision of a Workers’ Compensation Administrative Law Judge determining that an employee who voluntarily terminated active employment was presumed to have retired, and was therefore not eligible for ongoing lost time benefits. http://www.maine.gov/wcb/Departments/appellate/2016decisions/16-5%20Wing%20v.%20NewPage%203-7-16.pdf
- Successfully engaged in mediation to resolve a dispute regarding alleged whistleblower retaliation and age discrimination.
