Eaton Peabody is pleased to welcome employment attorney Katherine L. Porter to the firm. She joins the firm’s Labor & Employment practice group where she will represent clients in a wide range of general employment matters from the Portland office.

Katherine will also support the firm’s Startup and Emerging Companies practice, a practice that has been led by Jeff Spaulding for over a decade. Katherine will assist high-growth companies with employment compliance, diligence and documentation as well as equity compensation.

Prior to joining Eaton Peabody, Katherine practiced employment law in New York City at a Wall Street firm and an international law firm.

Katherine is Senior Counsel in Eaton Peabody’s Labor and Employment and Startup and Emerging Companies practice groups and is based in the firm’s Portland, Maine office.
Katherine represents private and public employers and established and emerging companies in all aspects of labor and employment matters. She routinely advises clients on federal, state, and local employment laws, including on discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, accommodations, leaves, wage and hour, COVID-19 compliance, whistleblower and misclassification issues. She has extensive experience drafting agreements for labor and employment matters, consulting with clients on internal investigations and advising clients on employment and litigation issues for corporate transactions. Katherine also advises clients on equity compensation structures and drafts related agreements. In addition, she has defended clients in a variety of employment matters in federal court and before federal, state and local administrative agencies.
Prior to joining Eaton Peabody, Katherine practiced employment law in New York City at a Wall Street firm and an international law firm. She also served as a clerk to Honorable John A. Woodcock, Jr. in Bangor, Maine from 2012-2013. Katherine is a native of Bangor and is delighted to be living in Maine again.
Katherine holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Tufts University and a Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Dean School of Law at Hofstra University.
In her free time, Katherine enjoys singing, hiking, speaking Spanish, art, traveling and sailing.
