Sam Hamilton is an Associate in Eaton Peabody’s Economic Development and Government Relations Practice Group, based in Augusta, Maine. In this role, Sam leverages his deep understanding of the legislative process to advocate for clients on a variety of economic development and government relations matters. His lobbying efforts have played a critical role in shaping policy outcomes at the state level.
In addition to his legal practice, Sam is committed to advancing the legal profession through education. He has presented Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars both nationally and to local organizations, including the Lakes Environmental Association, where he has shared his knowledge on topics ranging from environmental law to government relations.
Before joining Eaton Peabody, Sam served as a law clerk for Justice Joseph M. Jabar of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, where he gained invaluable experience in appellate litigation and the judicial process. Since joining Eaton Peabody, Sam has had the opportunity to argue in front of the Maine Supreme Court.
Sam earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law in May 2020. While in law school Sam served as a Bernstein Fellow for the Maine District Court in Portland and as a Summer Associate for Eaton Peabody, as well as a Student Attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic. At Maine Law Sam was Research Editor of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal and was a member of the Edward Thaxter Gignoux Inn of Court.
Sam also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government with a minor in Economics from Colby College where he was a member of the Mock Trial Team and also interned with the Maine District Court in Waterville and with the Kennebec County District Attorney’s Office.
In his free time Sam enjoys traveling with friends, spending time at his family’s cottage and alpine skiing
