In recent years, a number of applications have been filed with the Commission for construction of new communication towers. Proposals to develop communication towers can vary widely, especially given the rate of technological change within the telecommunications field. The purpose of this document is to help establish a consistent, predictable review process for proposed communication towers in the areas served by the Land Use Planning Commission, by communicating the Commission’s general approach to assessing and minimizing potential visual impacts from new towers.

For more information, or to request a copy of the guidance document, please contact Ben Godsoe at Benjamin.godsoe@maine.gov or 207-287-2619; or write to 22 State House Station, Augusta ME, 04333.
