New Fee Schedule Announced by U.S. Copyright Office

The fees charged by the U.S. Copyright Office will change effective on August 1, 2009. To encourage electronic filing, the fee for online registration of a basic claim in an original work through the "eCO Online System" is $35.00. The fee for paper filing of a basic claim on Form CO will increase to $50. The fees for paper filings using the old Copyright Office forms for visual, literary, performance, and other original works will increase to $65.00.
