Erik Stumpfel and Michael Clisham to Speak on Legal Issues Involving Local Governments

PORTLAND – The National Business Institute – one of the nation’s largest providers of professional education – has invited Erik Stumpfel and Michael Clisham of Eaton Peabody’s Municipal Law & Finance practice group to speak about legal issues involving local governments at the Portland Holiday Inn West on July 19, 2007. 

Stumpfel will speak on the ethical dilemmas facing municipal attorneys, including the impact of technology on privacy and confidentiality, the attorney-client privilege, and participation in political activities. Clisham will join Stumpfel for the final session of the day to discuss the land development process. This section will cover how to draft and development agreements, approaches to land acquisition, strategies for recovering development costs and a general review of environmental issues related to land development. Other topics covered during the seminar include local government and the law, addressing public rights issues, municipal employment relations, and zoning concerns.

This program has been designed for city and municipal attorneys as well as attorneys practicing in the areas of administrative, urban and local government and public contract law.
