EP Honored by Pro Bono of the Year Award

MAINE, February 9, 2011 - Eaton Peabody (EP) is honored to be the recipient of the Maine Bar Foundation's 2011 Pro Bono Publico Award. This award, presented at the Maine State Bar Association's annual luncheon, recognizes the Firm for contributing more pro bono hours to low income clients referred through the Volunteer Lawyers Project than any other Maine law firm during the past year.
The Volunteer Lawyers Project is a nonprofit legal aid organization providing legal information, assistance and representation to low income families. Its mission is to ensure that all Maine residents receive adequate legal representation regardless of income.
"Our efforts on behalf of the Volunteer Lawyers Project are an example of the emphasis we place on community service," said Eaton Peabody Managing Partner Dan McKay."We are proud that our efforts have advanced the goal of affording equal access for all to our system of justice."
EP is committed to providing top quality legal service to low income clients. The firm participates in a number of such efforts, both formal and informal.It has devoted at least half of its pro bono efforts to the Volunteer Lawyers Project since the organization began operating in 1980.
