Eaton Peabody Sponsors Bangor Symphony Orchestra Pre-Concert Lecture Series
September 21, 2010
BANGOR – Eaton Peabody has announced it will sponsor a series of lectures before each of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra’s concerts during the 2010-11 season.

Each lecture in the Eaton Peabody Pre-Concert Lecture Series will begin one hour before the concert and last approximately 30 minutes. The lectures are held in the Hutchins Concert Hall and are free to ticket holders.
The lectures will feature either BSO Music Director Lucas Richman or a guest conductor, and possibly a soloist who is scheduled to perform later that day. The lectures include discussion of elements of that day’s concert program, often putting the music in historical context or clueing in the audience about what to listen for during certain passages of music.
“The pre-concert lectures are a wonderful way to enhance the concert experience,” said Executive Director David N. Whitehill. “Thanks to Eaton Peabody’s continued generous support, it is possible for the Bangor Symphony Orchestra to ensure the future of this important program.”
Richman will host the first Eaton Peabody Pre-Concert Lecture on Sunday, October 3. Guest conductor Edward Cumming, who will lead the Bangor Symphony Orchestra for its November 14 concert, will also give the pre-concert lecture. Richman will take over for the rest of the season for concerts on January 16, March 13, and April 10.
The lectures will be held at 2 p.m. with the exception of the January 16 lecture, which will begin at 3 p.m.
Eaton Peabody has sponsored the BSO’s pre-concert lectures for the last few seasons.
