American Heart Association Honors Eaton Peabody

April 11, 2009

The American Heart Association will honor Eaton Peabody for making significant contributions to the lives of Mainers at the 10th annual Northeastern Maine Heart Ball.  More than 150 guests are expected to attend this gala event.

The Heart Ball is a major fundraiser for the research, education and advocacy necessary to combat cardiovascular disease and stroke, Maine's No. 1 and No. 3 causes of premature death and disability. This year’s event is chaired by Bill Lucy, President and CEO of Merrill Bank, with a fundraising goal of $145,000 to support the AHA’s mission.

The event will include a silent auction and cocktail reception, followed by dinner, a live auction, and the “Gold Heart” award presentation. The evening will conclude with dancing to the music of The RetroRockerz.  This year’s live auction will include a topaz necklace from Day’s Jewelers, Red Sox tickets, beautiful original artwork, a cooking class for eight at Anne Marie’s Kitchen, and a homemade dinner for four once a month for an entire year.

A special appeal, hosted by Governor Baldacci’s niece Elise Baldacci and her mother Amy Cummings, will encourage support for the AHA’s lifesaving programs.   Guests will have an opportunity to get involved and one contributor will be selected to win overnight accommodations, dinner and brunch for two at the Lucerne Inn.

Eaton Peabody will receive the 2009 “Gold Heart” Award for its contributions to the greater Bangor community.   Specifically, Thomas Brown and Edward “Ted” Leonard III (posthumously) will be honored for their active leadership and their commitment of time and resources to causes that strengthen the communities in which the firm practices.

Limited space is remaining for corporate sponsorships – which include a table for 8 guests and marketing benefits – as well as individual tickets for $150.  Area businesses can also show their support by donating an auction item for the silent or live auction.
