USDA Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program
We are sending this alert to selected Eaton Peabody clients, in case you have yet to hear about the USDA's Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program. This program offers grants, guaranteed loans, and combination grant/guaranteed loans to assist rural Maine businesses that purchase and install renewable energy systems and make energy efficiency improvements. A number of Maine businesses and manufacturers have already taken advantage of this program to improve efficiency and lower production costs. The program can be used to construct new facilities or to improve existing ones.
The USDA is awarding grants up to $750,000 per project for combined renewable and energy efficiency projects, as well as low-interest loans up to $10,000,000 per project.
Examples of energy projects awarded grants in 2003 and 2004:
Small Business - Installation of cogeneration wood fired boiler systems.
Agricultural Producer - Installation of outside factory-made wood burning furnace.
Agricultural Producer - Construction of a 12,000,000 gallon bio-diesel production plant.
