Bill Ferdinand Elected President of MLCI - January 10th, 2006

Maine Lakes Conservancy Institute (MLCI) elected Eaton Peabody attorney Bill Ferdinand as their organization's president. MLCI is a 5-year-old organization devoted to educating Maine students and people about the ecology, economics and culture of lake communities.

"MLCI has been enthusiastically supported by Maine teachers and students. Our short term goal is to expand capacity of the organization to meet the growing demand for our lake education programs," commented Ferdinand on his presidential agenda.

The organization provides education to Maine communities through teachers' workshops, classroom visits and a signature floating classroom. This 30-foot customized pontoon boat is equipped with monitors that enable students to explore the workings of watersheds and water quality hands on.

Currently, Ferdinand provides legislative services as well as state and municipal regulatory advice and assistance, particularly in the areas of environmental and land use law. Prior to joining Eaton Peabody, Ferdinand advised the Maine Legislature and state agencies on environmental and economic development policy while on the staff of the State Planning Office.
