Eaton Peabody Sponsors 2006 Maine Land Conservation Conference - April 2006
On May 5th and 6th Eaton Peabody will be a lead sponsor for the 2006 Maine Land Conservation Conference organized by Maine Coast Heritage Trust. This is the second consecutive year for the firm at this sponsorship level. In addition to this year’s display booth John Loyd, Bill Ferdinand, and Thom Johnston will be speaking during Saturday’s Land Fair at Brunswick High School.
“We at Eaton Peabody have been pleased to sponsor and participate in the annual Maine Land Conservation Conference, said Loyd, “the Conference is a wonderful opportunity for those of us involved with conservation and preservation to share our knowledge.”
Loyd and Ferdinand’s workshop will explore how and why a land trust might choose to accept open space set-asides from developers as well as cover the considerations of appropriate relationship building, assessing public benefit, creating leverage in negotiations, and balancing the risks and gains. In a separate workshop, Johnston covers employment issues confronting land trusts. The session will provide legal and practical advice about worker’s compensation, payroll, benefits, hiring and firing, and personnel policies.
