Eaton Peabody Focuses on the American Cancer Society - March 2006

Through two local programs, Daffodil Days and Relay for Life, the staff of Eaton Peabody raised over $800 for the American Cancer Society, through the sale of daffodils and baked goods.

Cindy Lavertu, Legal Assistant in the Corporate Department, organized Daffodil Days participation.

Created by the American Cancer Society Daffodil Days is a nationwide program to thank monetary donors with bouquets of daffodils. To the society, these daffodils represent hope in that one day our world will be cancer free.

The staff of Eaton Peabody was pampered with fresh baked goods throughout the month of March. In an attempt to raise money for Relay for Life, Kelly Hoovler, Legal Assistant in the Administrative Law department, baked everything from muffins to cookies, often still warm from the oven, with all proceeds going to Relay for Life.

"Our dedication and determination, to help the American Cancer Society, prompted us to raise our fundraising goal every year,” said Hoovler. “One of our fundraising efforts is selling baked goods ranging from pumpkin whoopie pies to cookies within the firm and so far it has been a success.”

Relay for Life is a program of survivor celebration where teams volunteer to participate in relays held in their local communities with the goal of raising money for cancer research.
