Eaton Peabody Selected as 2006 Service Provider of the Year - April, 2006

Eaton Peabody has been selected as the 2006 Service Provider of the Year by the Maine International Trade Center (MITC). The Firm will be highlighted during a three minute video during the awards ceremony, hosted by Governor John E. Baldacci, taking place during the 26th Annual Maine International Trade Day.
“The Maine International Trade Center continues to play an important role in the growth of Maine’s economy,” commented Eaton Peabody president Dan McKay. “We are pleased to be recognized as a contributor to that growth and to Maine’s international trade community.”
Eaton Peabody has a long established international trade practice and has been recognized for many years for its
particular expertise in U.S. – Canadian cross-border transactions. The seeds of that practice were sown in the wake of passage of the Canadian-American Free Trade Agreement in the mid-80’s. The Firm has continued to provide cross-border services to both its U.S and Canadian client base ever since. The Firm’s International Trade Practice Group now includes five attorneys providing legal services to dozens of companies on both sides of the border.
“Eaton Peabody is based in Bangor which lies at the center of the international northeast trading region,” notes McKay. “People in this region have always had particularly strong ties with our Canadian neighbors. That fact makes this practice area a natural for us. Recent focus on the international northeast as a distinct regional market has provided renewed impetus to increase trade across the international border. Our role is to facilitate that process.”
MITC will also be recognizing local businesses in four other categories: Exporter of the Year, Innovator of the Year, Foreign Direct Investor of the Year, and the President’s Award during the June 1st award ceremony at the University of Maine in Orono. All winners are selected based on their demonstration of outstanding success in international trade.
