New Leadership for ACEC of Maine
July 29, 2011
Augusta, Maine — The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Maine is pleased to announce the election of a new president, Rip Patten of Credere Associates. Rip is replacing Scott Graham of the Sewall Company as president.
Rip Patten is a Senior Environmental Engineer and the Vice President of Credere, a business that specializes in redevelopment planning, engineering, hydrogeology, and environmental sciences. Mr. Patten has over 15 years experience as a professional engineer in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. As well, he is a Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional (LSP), and a LEED-accredited professional by the US Green Building Council. Rip’s strong leadership ability was a key factor in his election as president by his peers.
“It is an honor to serve as the new president of ACEC of Maine. As the organization moves forward, it is my goal to underscore the relevance of engineering in building the economy of Maine,” commented Patten.
ACEC of Maine also welcomes the hiring of John Melrose of the Eaton Peabody Consulting Group to assist in the management of the association’s affairs. John has nearly 40 years of experience in public, project and association management, public policy research and advocacy, as well as community development.
“As a former Commissioner of the Maine Department of Transportation and an accomplished community development professional, Mr. Melrose is no stranger to Maine’s engineering community. He will greatly help further the mission of ACEC of Maine,” Patten said.
The American Council of Engineering Companies of Maine was formed in 1964 and is the only organization in the state devoted solely to protecting the public interest and advancing the professional quality of consulting engineering, both nationally and in Maine, through the improvement of the business practices of engineering companies. It represents more than 50 statewide consulting engineering firms dedicated to the private practice of engineering.
