Maine Merchants Association Selects EPCG to Increase Its Government Affairs Activities
October 05, 2006
The Maine Merchants Association Board of Directors has voted unanimously to enter into an agreement with EatonPeabody Consulting Group for an array of management services aimed at enhancing MMA’s ability to better serve
the needs of its members in the government affairs arena.
“We believe this agreement will allow Maine Merchants Association – as it begins its 73rd year – to better pursue its primary mission of offering government services to its members, and to the business community as a whole,” said MMA President John Marden.
“With more and more state government decisions that impact Maine retailers being made year-round via the rulemaking process by departments and agencies, it has become necessary for business representatives to be vigilant every day, not just when the Maine Legislature is in session,” said Marden. “There is no longer an off-season when individuals once devoted to government affairs could turn their attention to other association matters, such as membership and programs.”
“Eaton Peabody Consulting Group will be assisting Maine Merchants Association in the key areas of membership retention and recruitment, program development, and day-to-day association management,” said Edith S. Leary of the Eaton Peabody Consulting Group. “This will assure seamless membership services in line with increasing Maine Merchants’ lobbying and other government affairs duties.”
